Memex Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 1, 2026
Memex (hereinafter "the App") takes the privacy of its users seriously and complies with applicable laws, including applicable data protection laws. This policy explains what information the App collects and how it is used and stored.
Core principle — your original photos never leave your device.
The App does not store the original images of the screenshots or photos you select on any server. Text recognition (OCR) is processed on your device, and only the recognized text is sent to the server.
1. Information We Collect
The App is used by signing in with an Apple or Google account, and processes the following information.
- The text of the memories you save — characters recognized on your device (OCR) from screenshots, or text and notes you enter directly.
- Classification and summary results — the field, summary, and keywords generated from the text above.
- Photo library reference information — an identifier (local pointer) used to reload photos on your device. This is not the photo itself but a value indicating "where on the device it is located," and it is stored only on your device.
- Account information — When you sign in with an Apple or Google account, we collect your account identifier and email address in order to distinguish and store your data. With Sign in with Apple, you may choose to hide your email (private email relay).
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- The original image files of photos and screenshots (kept only on your device)
- Personal information not required for signing in, such as phone number, address, or contacts
- Location information, contacts, call logs, and the like
3. Purpose of Use
- To store the memories you save and to classify and summarize them by field so that you can find them again
- To store data through your account and support use across devices
- To provide search functionality
- To maintain service quality and fix errors
4. Third-Party Processing (External Services)
The App uses the following external services and transfers only the information necessary for each purpose.
- Supabase — a database service that stores the text you save and the classification results.
- Anthropic Claude API — AI processing used to classify and summarize text by field. Only the recognized text is transmitted; original photos are not transmitted.
- Apple · Google — sign-in (authentication) processing. Authentication is performed through the account provider you choose, and each provider's own privacy policy applies.
The services above process information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
5. Retention and Deletion
- The memories you save are retained until you delete them yourself.
- Within the app you can delete individual memories and reset all data; when deleted, the corresponding data is also removed from the server.
- If you delete all of your data, the information stored on the server for that user is deleted as well.
6. Your Rights
You may view, modify, or delete the data you have saved at any time. You can do so directly through in-app features, or by making a request via the contact below.
7. Children's Personal Information
The App is not directed to children under the age of 14, and does not knowingly collect the personal information of such children.
8. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be revised in accordance with changes in laws or the service, and any changes will be announced through this page.
